THE RECYCLE BIN OPTION IS UNAVAILABLE
There are often
relatively simple fixes for what may appear to be very complex Windows 9x
problems. One such problem is if, when you try to empty the Windows 95\98
Recycle Bin, the Empty Recycle Bin option is unavailable; or, more
dangerously, files that are deleted are not moved to the Recycle Bin but
are, instead, permanently deleted.
If you encounter these
problems, Windows may be corrupted. Anotherpossibility, however, is that a
hard drive has simply been marked as a removable drive by mistake. To
check this:
Right-click My
Computer and select Properties.
Click the Device
Manager tab and double-click the Disk Drives branch to show the disk
drive.
Select the drives
in turn (if you have more than one) and click
Properties.
Ensure the
Removable check box is clear on the Settings tab and OK your
changes.
Restart your
computer for the changes to take effect and try once more to use the
Recycle Bin.
