IS THE TERMINAL SERVICES CLIENT CAUSING A GDI
FAULT?
Windows Terminal
Services (TS) is a technology used by both administrators and the user
community to maintain servers. One of its greatest benefits is that the TS
client program is easy to install on Windows 95/98 computers. However, you
may find that when you install the client, you receive the following
error:
MSTSC caused a
general protection fault in gdi.exe 0014:0000048E
Even a single
damaged font in the \fonts folder can cause this fault. To replace the
damaged font, you can reinstall Windows over the existing installation. If
this doesn't work:
1. Boot your
computer in MS-DOS mode.
2. Confirm that
you have access to your CD-ROM drive and Windows installation
media.
3.Rename the
\fonts folder to \oldfonts.
4.Tryreinstalling
Windows again by running Setup.exe from the
installationCD.
If the TS client
runs when Windows restarts, copy any extra fonts from \oldfonts into
\fonts one at a time. Try the TS client after each copy to locate the
damaged font.
