DISPLAY AN 'UNAUTHORIZED USAGE' WARNING AS WINDOWS STARTS

If you have a number of Windows 9x computers on your network, you can issue a reminder to your users that these computers are for business use only by displaying a warning notice as Windows starts.

To do this, you need to add two values to the computer's registry; once you know the values, you can distribute them by your usual method (i.e., .reg file). Remember to take your usual precautions before editing the registry.

1.First click on Start | Run, then type regedit.

2. Click OK.

3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MicrosoftWindows\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

4. Create two values in the right-hand pane by right-clicking within the pane and selecting New | String.

The first should have a name of LegalNoticeCaption and a value of your choosing, for example, Important Notice. The second should have a name of LegalNoticeText and also a value of your choosing, for example, No Unauthorized Access Allowed.
