CREATE A SHORTCUT FOR REPETITIVE E-MAILS

Windows 98 desktop shortcuts save time and provide easy access to various features. For instance, if you've installed an e-mail client, such as Outlook or Outlook Express, and frequently send mail to a particular person, you can create a desktop shortcut that will speed up the process of sending messages. Here's how

Right-click on the desktop and select New | Shortcut.

In the Target field, type mailto:mailbox@yourdomain.domain, where mailbox@yourdomain.domain is the recipient's e-mail address.

Provide a name for the shortcut, such as the name of the recipient.

When you double-click the desktop shortcut, a preaddressed mail form will appear that's ready to be filled in and sent from the e-mail application.

In addition, you can include a subject parameter after the e-mail address that will automatically insert the same subject line each time. For example:

mailto:mailbox@yourdomain.domain?subject=put_your_subject_here

(i.e., mailto:david@yourdomain.com?subject=Weekly_Bulletin)

Follow these steps to add this extra parameter:

Right-click the shortcut.

Select Properties | Program.

Add the subject line text.

Click OK.

Now, when you double-click the desktop shortcut, a preaddressed mail form with a prepared subject line will appear.
